Nat Mur - A homeopathic remedy
Natrum muriaticum is one of the most widely used constitutional homeopathic remedies, particularly suited to individuals who have experienced deep grief, emotional suppression, or unresolved heartbreak.
Often described as sensitive, private, and emotionally self-contained, these individuals may internalise their pain, preferring solitude over vulnerability. They are frequently misunderstood - appearing reserved or distant, yet beneath the surface lies a profound depth of feeling and loyalty.
Interestingly, Nat mur types aren’t always quiet or withdrawn. Some adopt a completely different mask: the joker, the entertainer, the one who lightens the mood. Humour becomes a shield, a clever way to hide emotional pain and deflect attention from what’s really going on inside.
Constitutionally, Nat mur types often carry a history of early emotional wounding, whether from childhood rejection, betrayal, or loss, leading them to develop strong internal boundaries as a protective mechanism.
Physical symptoms often reflect this inner holding: dryness, headaches, cold sores, thyroid dysfunction, allergies such as hay fever, menstrual irregularities, and a tendency toward fatigue or anxiety.
Nat mur has been historically used for:
Headaches & migraines
Chronic allergy and hayfever
Cough
Asthma
Thyroid dysfunction - hyperthyroid, hypothyroid and thyroiditis
Digestive issues - stomach pain and diarrhoea
Haemorrhoids
Rheumatoid Arthritis
Back pain and sciatica
Sprains
Skin diseases - eczema, psoriasis, urticaria, herpes (shingles, cold sores and genital herpes), impetigo and warts
Vertigo
Fever
Multiple sclerosis
Bell’s palsy
Parkison’s Disease
This list comes from Dr Roger Morrison, M.D
I also use Natrum mur as a classical homeopathic remedy to support
🤍 low energy,
🤍 fluid retention and puffiness (think of Nat Mur as the chronic for Apis - it can follow on from Apis beautifully)
🤍slow metabolism and/or inability to lose weight (which can be related to a sluggish thyroid)
🤍 for those with a tendency to depression and/or anxiety, which is often related to grief and/or trauma.
