Why You Need Tissue Salts In Your Life

Have you heard or seen tissue salts (aka cell salts) at your local health food store or chemist? They look like a supplement, but they’re actually made using similar homeopathic manufacturing techniques.

What are tissue salts?

What Are Tissue Salts?

The human body contains 12 core mineral salts, known as tissue salts, and a healthy balance of these minerals is essential for optimal cellular function and overall health.

Over 150 years ago, Dr Schuessler, a homeopath and the pioneer of tissue salts, proposed that dis-ease or illness is often a sign of an imbalance of these mineral salts within the cells. He believed that health could be restored by supplying the body with small, highly absorbable doses of these minerals.

In simple terms, tissue salts provide the cells with the basic building blocks they need to function efficiently. When the cells are nourished and supported at this level, the body is better able to regulate, repair, and heal itself.

Schuessler found that the most effective way for the body to assimilate these minerals was through a homeopathically prepared micro-dose. This form allows the tissue salts to be rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream and delivered directly to the cells where they are needed.

Rather than working like a standard supplement, tissue salts gently encouraging the body to correct underlying mineral imbalances.

How I Use Tissue Salts in Practice

Tissue salts can be used in several ways:

  • For acute issues or first aid support

  • Alongside a constitutional or clinical homeopathic prescription

  • As a stand-alone prescription from your practitioner

  • As an all-rounder multi-mineral support or tonic

I most commonly prescribe tissue salts in a 6X potency, or as a traditional Schuessler preparation, which is widely available through chemists and health food stores.

Who Can Use Tissue Salts?

One of the reasons I love tissue salts is their gentle yet effective nature. They are safe to use across all stages of life, including:

  • Pregnancy

  • Newborns and children

  • Adolescents

  • The elderly

They are particularly helpful during times of growth, stress, recovery, or change, when the body’s mineral demands are higher.
