Fertility Program

Are you ready to get pregnant but it’s not happening (yet)?

You always thought it’d be fairly straight forward when it comes to getting pregnant but each month it can feel like a devastating blow when you’re not. It can become so heartbreaking that you wonder if it’ll happen…

Perhaps you’ve just gotten started with baby-making or you’re years into your fertility journey - you may have had numerous appointments with specialists, and you’ve had unsuccessful rounds of IUI and/or IVF. You may you have tried medication like Clomid and tried other therapies, to no avail. Perhaps you’re coming off the oral contraceptive pill after years of use and/or you’re wanting to prioritise preconception planning or you’re wanting to optimise your fertility before starting IVF . Whether you’ve been trying to conceive for a few months or a few years, you can spend hours and even days, scrolling the net, looking for answers, and trying to make sense of it all.

If you nodded your head to any of this, you’re in the right place. I’ve spent over ten years in private practice, helping couples with preconception planning, enhancing their fertility, and falling pregnant.

My fertility program uses the Liz Lalor fertility protocol, combined with a naturopathic approach, personalised nutrition education, herbal medicine and lifestyle support.

The fertility protocol I use in clinic was developed by an Australian homeopath, Liz Lalor, in 1999. Since then Liz Lalor has helped 416 babies to be born out of 456 women who used her fertility protocol. The Liz Lalor Fertility Protocol has a success rate of 87%, nearly always within a 4-month period. Over half of the women who fall pregnant do so within 2 months of the protocol. These statistics are validated by homeopaths all over the world using her method.

Homeopathy, nutrition and lifestyle changes can lay down the foundations for balancing hormones, stimulating ovulation, increasing cervical mucous and improving sperm health, within months.

My fertility program is a 4-month fertility program, which uses the Liz Lalor fertility protocol, combined with naturopathy, nutrition, and homeopathy. You receive 4 x fertility consultations & a fertility kit. The program focuses on enhancing your fertility through stimulating ovulation, improving cervical mucous, balancing hormones & improving sperm health, while addressing deficiencies/imbalances and nourishing your body.

This program doesn’t just focus on fertility - it also focuses on YOU. My goal is to enhance your fertility while supporting you to feel energetic, nourished and connected to yourself and your partner, so you are empowered and educated while you’re conceiving your future babe.

Benefits of the fertility program

With over 1 in 6 couples now experiencing infertility, the global birth rates dropping and sperm rapidly decreasing, there’s a number of issues impacting our fertility that can be addressed to improve your chances of a healthy conception, including lack of cervical mucous (often due to long term oral contraceptive pill use), anovulation (eggs aren’t released), hormonal imbalances such as high oestrogen and/or low progesterone, luteal phase defect, endometriosis, sperm quality issues, nutrient deficiencies (including B vitamin, iron and zinc deficiencies), high stress, high sugar diets, recurring gut issues such as candida, and lifestyle factors including lack of good quality sleep, caffeine, alcohol, drugs and toxins, which can drive oxidative damage impacting sperm health and egg quality, and impact fertility.

Stimulating ovulation, improving cervical mucous and balancing hormones

With the fertility program, women often see improvements within themselves (energy, libido, mood and sleep) and often see improvements with their hormones and fertility (ovulation, cervical mucous and menses) - within one cycle of the program.

For example, Folliculinum, a key homeopathic remedy, which is prescribed for the woman, is key in stimulating ovulation. This homeopathic remedy is made from natural oestrogen, and helps with the oestrogen surge leading up to ovulation, which is why folliculinum stimulates ovulation and helps with cervical mucous production. Without healthy stringy cervical mucous, mid-cycle, the sperm cannot swim up to fertilise the egg.

Another example, women often notice a healthier cycle in terms of a 26-31 day cycle length, and less PMT (including mood swings, irritability, breast tenderness, fatigue and cravings) leading up to their menses. Research has shown that 90 % of women with PMS experience improvement after homeopathic treatment.

A wholefood diet that’s rich in protein, fat and fibre is vital for healthy hormone production, gut health, immunity and wellness. As part of the fertility program we ensure you’re creating a healthy plate at mealtimes (without being over-the-top, calorie counting or deprivation), and you’ll be given a fertility diet that has meal ideas and recipes, to help you implement the theory into everyday life.

If there’s a history of stress, anxiety, sleep issues, PMT or high oestrogen/low progesterone symptoms such as endometriosis, long cycles, irregular cycles, heavy blood flow including clots, etc. we may supplement with magnesium. Magnesium is one of my favourite hormone balancing minerals for most women. It is also known as ‘nature’s tranquiliser’, for its ability to help calm an overactive nervous system, balance sex hormones, provide pain relief if there’s cramping or premenstrual headaches, reduce sugar cravings, promote insulin sensitivity and support general health.

Improving sperm health

Males account for 40-50% of infertility cases. There is a global decline in sperm counts, with research showing a total sperm count decline of nearly 60% in the last 50 years. This study included over 40,000 men from Australia, New Zealand, North America and Europe. This is equivalent to an average of 1.6% total sperm count decline per year.

  • A research trial of 45 sub-fertile men showed that homeopathy improved both the number and the quality of sperm. Significant changes were found in sperm density and percentage of sperm with good motility.

  • Our nutritional approach in the program involves a personalised fertility diet, which focuses on antioxidant rich foods, as these foods can help mitigate the oxidative damage from lifestyle factors (such as stress, processed foods, caffeine, alcohol, environmental toxins, etc.). We also optimise key nutrients that are involved in fertility, such as zinc, B vitamins including activated folate, iron studies, Vitamin D, CoQ10 and NAC.

    • For example, 45% of men in Australia have low/deficient levels of zinc, which is a key mineral required for sperm health and is a potent antioxidant for fertility. In our program we address and correct low/deficient zinc levels and focus on zinc-rich foods.

    • Another example, NAC, a potent antioxidant has a lot of research to show that when it’s supplemented correctly, it can significantly improve the effects on the volume, motility and viscosity of semen, when taken for 3 months and is recommended in the medical literature as an effective option for improving semen parameters.
